A Decade of Dedication: Port St. Lucie Business Women Unite To Raise Funds For Breast Cancer Research
For 10 years the Port St. Lucie Business Women have been sponsoring and participating in the annual Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walk which was held October 19 at the Port St. Lucie Civic Center. “A Decade of Dedication” was the theme that united 28 Port St. Lucie Business Women and their family members, a number of whom are survivors themselves. For 10 years the Port St. Lucie Business Women have sponsored, walked and participated in Making Strides Against Breast Cancer, raising more than $16,400.
The Port St. Lucie Business Women’s custom team T-shirts were designed by Business Women member Diane Gallagher of DSG Designs & Photography and donated by Diane, Angela Hayle of ACCH Insurance Agency, Patricia Garcia King of Keller Williams Realty and Holley Surgical Arts. Representing a decade of dedication, ten signature twisted pink ribbons encircle “10 years.”
The Business Women were the Volunteer Tent Sponsor.
Breast cancer is the second most common cancer in American women and the second leading cause of cancer death in women. Women have a one in eight chance of developing invasive breast cancer. Due to improvements in treatment and early detection, there has been a 40 percent decline in breast cancer deaths since 1985. With the funds raised from Making Strides Against Breast Cancer, the American Cancer Society has been able to provide free rides to cancer patients in Florida through its Road To Recovery Program, provide wigs free of charge to women, provide prevention programs, 24/7 hotlines, caregiver support, and so much more. The Port St. Lucie Business Women is proud to support the American Cancer Society’s search for a cure, education and outreach.
