No One Walks Alone: WE ARE STRONGER TOGETHER” was the Port St. Lucie Business Women team’s theme this year at the annual Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walk held October 28 at First Data Field. Below that message, the word “hope,” with the letter “o” formed by a twisted ribbon consisting of figures representing the Business Women, reinforced the theme.
The Port St. Lucie Business Women’s custom team T-shirts were designed by Business Women member Diane Gallagher and donated by both Aztec Graphix and Holley Surgical Arts.
The PSL Business Women were among the top 10 out of more than 80 fundraising teams, with 28 participants, including guests and survivors. The Business Women also sponsored a water station.
Breast cancer is the second leading cause of cancer death in women, exceeded only by lung cancer. Women have a one in eight chance of developing invasive breast cancer. Since 1989, breast cancer death rates have declined by 38 percent, yet one in 36 women will die from this disease. Finding a cure is critical.
Thanks to improvements in treatment and early detection, more women – and men — are surviving breast cancer today. The Port St. Lucie Business Women is proud to support the American Cancer Society’s search for a cure, education and outreach.
The Port St. Lucie Business Women is a professional organization dedicated to promoting the interests of business women and serving our community in an effective way. For more information visit www.pslbw.com. “Like” their Facebook page for updates about events, programs and community involvement.
